MGRV8 Immobiliser Bypass Plug

I recently experienced a problem that after a run on a hot day and then leaving the car parked in the direct sunlight for a about an hour it would not start. This has happened in the past on a couple of occasions. After cooling down a while out of the sun then it starts ok.

It was always the fuel pump that was not working. On the last occasion I was able to feed a live to the pump that made it work and although the starter worked and the ignition light was on the car still failed to start.

After some discussion on the Facebook groups everything pointed to a faulty immobiliser which are now NLA … No Longer Available.

Fortunately one of the group members has worked out a solution to bypass the immobiliser which he sells on  eBay ….. a bit pricey but it works!

The easiest way to fit it is by removing the drivers side air vent and if you can squeeze your hand in the hole. Otherwise via the rev counter or by removing the dashboard!

After fitting I purposely left the car in the hot sun after a run on 2 consecutive days with no starting problems.

Just to note that it is only the immobiliser part of the security system that is isolated. The fob still works the alarm on doors, bonnet and boot and also the movement sensor in the cabin.
