Timing cover off …… Coolant drain

Off at last but a couple of little hurdles to sort to get the cover off.

The oil hose from the pump to the remote filter was seized I guess due to it being in such an exposed position. So had to disconnect from the filter end and remove the timing cover with the hose.

Based on the workshop manual you are supposed to drain each side of the engine block prior to removing the cover. The drain plugs are in such an awkward position that no way I could get any grip on them. I was concerned that all that coolant would fall into the exposed end of the sump when the cover was removed. I needn’t have been too concerned as when one of the retaining bolts is removed it drains the block coolant from the bolt hole ….. see pic.
