Intake Manifold Removal – 1

I’ve taken many different engines apart over the years on classics i have owned but this i think will be the most complex being a fuel injection V8. There is an oil leak in the engine ‘valley’ trickling down the back of the engine,  I want to check / clean the fuel injectors and inspect the camshaft for wear.

I made a good start to getting the inlet manifold off by following the workshop manual to the letter (making notes of positions where bolts of different lengths were removed).

The trickiest part was removing the ram pipe housing ….. it was solid. After a bit of googling I used a block of wood in the position shown and a sharp (not heavy) blow from a hammer broke the seal.

So at the end of the day I had the plenum chamber and ram pipe housing on the bench.
