When I first had the car there was only the one throttle return spring fitted yet all other RV8s i saw had 2 springs. After some enquiries on the Facebook groups I was assured there should be 2 springs so I bought a second spring but this made the accelerator pedal very hard which I didn’t like.
Thinking that this must put a lot of wear onto the accelerator cable I removed the second spring which made the accelerator pedal a lot more comfortable.
After some discussions again on the Facebook groups the reason there are 2 springs is in case one breaks. So I started to look around for 2 weaker springs to replace the single original spring. I found them in the assortment of springs I got from ebay.
I noted that after removing the single spring there was still enough power from the integral throttle spring (bottom left of pics) to return the pedal. Anyway I have fitted the 2 new weaker springs and very happy with the result.
