MGRV8 Map Pocket

Whilst browsing eBay I spotted a map pocket of the same colours as the RV8 interior. It’s from a Range Rover of the same period so thinking I can utilise it in the MG I bought it.

It was about 6″ too long so I shortened it and with a couple of longish screws with collars I got it fitted. I think it looks pretty good and doesn’t reduce any space in the passenger footwell by very much.

I guess this wouldn’t work too well with the cars fitted with air con!

I’ve been asked to add a few more details:-

Circles indicate position of screws – the screw heads to be painted to hide
Circle showing the collar around the screw and the green arrow pointing to the spacer

I put collars around the screws to prevent the pocket being pulled in too tight. I made a space from the remaining piece of the cut off pocket again to make sure the screw when tightened doesn’t “squash” the pocket. In hindsight I would make it wider at the top.
