Vacuum Check

I did a vacuum check on the engine with my trusty old vacuum gauge. I used the manifold take-off for the fuel emissions cannister to connect the gauge.

I got a reading of 16″ at idle which is a bit low. This is usually an indicator that there is either a vacuum leak somewhere or the timing is not right.

I have done all checks for a vacuum leak to no avail so will next look at the timing. There are methods and thoughts that it is better to set the timing using a vacuum gauge …….. the subject for a future post.
