A common problem associated with the alarm is simply the car will not start – even though obvious things like fuses have been checked including the main fuses in the engine bay …… ie. the starter will not work nor the fuel pump.
The way i understand how it works is the alarm module in the boot when activated by the key fob sends a signal to the immobiliser located behind the dash which subsequently sends a signal to 2 relays located even deeper behind the dash.

One relay – the engine relay – controls the starter and fuel pump the other controls other things including the fuel gauge and boot release. It’s a matter of identifying whether its the alarm module, the immobiliser or the engine relay which is at fault.
If its just the starter and fuel pump not working it is most likely the engine relay at fault. If the fuel gauge and boot release are also not working then the immobilser or alarm module is at fault.
NB. If the starter motor works but not the fuel pump check the fuel cut off inertia switch under the bonnet between the heater box and vapor filter.

To determine whether the fault lies with the immobiliser or alarm module is the problem …… unless you have or can get hold of a spare. I guess if the alarm is making all the right flashing lights and noises then aim for the immobiliser.
Also …. the alarm module is a lot easier to get at compared to the immobiliser …… and cheaper!
