It is important to turn the engine over without starting it to make sure there is good oil pressure. To do this you need to remove fuse no 17 which isolates the fuel pump so it won’t start when you turn the ignition. After about 20 seconds of turning the oil pressure light went out. I replaced the fuse, turned the ignition and the engine started straight away.
If there was no oil pressure then the pump needs priming by disconnecting the pipes to the oil filter and with a small funnel put a cup full of oil down each pipe – reconnect and try again.
