The original radios fitted to the mgrv8 UK spec cars is a Philips 22DC741. For some reason mine had a 90DC632. Although not original spec it must have been with the car for a long time as the instruction book, security card and windscreen warning labels also came with the car.
The previous owner of my car had taken out this radio and put in a modern bluetooth version that doesn’t really look the part ….. nor could I figure out how it works properly.
The same radio was fitted to the Subaru cars of the same period so found a replacement on ebay, put in an offer and got it – trouble is that it has got the word Subaru printed on the cassette cover but that is not very noticeable. It will do till I can find an original spec radio for a decent price.
The sound through the old radio far exceeded the modern bluetooth one simply because the 2 large speakers in the rear panel were previously disconnected!
