Alternator belt adjustment

I could not help but notice that when I started the car on one occasion the loud screech from the fan belt. I checked the slack on the longest part of the belt path which is supposed to be about 10mm – mine was a good inch …… so an adjustment is necessary.

I thought it would be a quick job like on the mgb but not quite so. The nuts to slacken under the alternator are not the easiest to get to and were very tight …… I suspect not been done for a long time. Other than that a straight forward job. Anyway got the job done and not heard any more screeching since.
